U.S. Small Business Administration Isabella Casillas G. kicking off National Small Business Week and Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage month with USPAACC Community Navigator Program Spoke, Lily Lo of the Northeast Community Federal Credit Union/BeChinatown speaking on a panel at the Chinese Cultural Center in San Francisco, May 2nd. Other panelist were: Jennifer Kim and Julie Clowes of the SBA, Lamar Haystek, Asian Inc, and Victor Hsi, Southeast Asian Community Center. In the audience were members of the business community of Chinatown, nonprofit organizations and the SBA to listen, learn and ask questions. BeChinatown - AA Bakery Success StoryDuring Chinese New Year, BeChinatown helped AA Bakery apply for a pop-up that was sponsored by the Ferry Building, along the Embarcadero area in the city. They were given the opportunity to present their culinary goodies for four weekends, allowing them to sell their products outside the gates of Chinatown.

Today, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service ("MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities"), BeChinatown and Chinatown Volunteer Coalition distributed masks and hand sanitizer leftover from a distro months ago to hundreds of small business owners in Chinatown.
