With the successful efforts of all community stakeholders on BE Grant Avenue. The community on Waverly wanted to have lanterns placed on their alley as well. As the Chinese Proverb goes,
With the successful efforts of all community stakeholders on BE Grant Avenue. The community on Waverly wanted to have lanterns placed on their alley as well. As the Chinese Proverb goes,
Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still. 不怕慢,就怕停
The community did not want to stand still and watch their neighborhood not transformed into something of beauty, something to cherish, something to love... So we gathered together meeting at local associations and restaurants to hash out our plan to get lanterns on Waverly. We spoke to our Advisory Committee provided insight on building consensus consensus among the different factions within the two blocks that make up Waverly Place. We worked with countless organizations to make this happen, months of negotiations, planning and development. This project is entirely self funded by the BE Chinatown team of volunteers and the community. Additional funding is necessary to maintain the lanterns, supplant the costs for power to light the lanterns, etc.
