From the article: "(SAN FRANCISCO) BeChinatown hosted its first zong zi event in Chinatown on May 21 to welcome and celebrate the upcoming lunar May 5 Dragon Boat Festival.The official day of the lunar May 5 Dragon Boat Festival this year is on June 3rd. Traditionally for over hundreds of years, zong zi is the food which is wrapped by lotus leaves to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival. The food materials inside the lotus leaves include rice, meat, green beans, peanuts and more that would serve as a meal for your lunch. The zong zi event was held at the Victory Hall on Stockton Street on May 21. The chefs from 10 Chinatown restaurants and dim sim places were invited to the event to showcase the skill of cooking and wrapping the zong zi.“Zong zi also represents the profound history of Chinese culture and Chinese food. We also want to celebrate and promote the Chinatown businesses with hosting the event to bring in more customers to Chinatown,” said Lily Lo, President of BeChinatown." U.S. Small Business Administration Isabella Casillas G. kicking off National Small Business Week and Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage month with USPAACC Community Navigator Program Spoke, Lily Lo of the Northeast Community Federal Credit Union/BeChinatown speaking on a panel at the Chinese Cultural Center in San Francisco, May 2nd. Other panelist were: Jennifer Kim and Julie Clowes of the SBA, Lamar Haystek, Asian Inc, and Victor Hsi, Southeast Asian Community Center. In the audience were members of the business community of Chinatown, nonprofit organizations and the SBA to listen, learn and ask questions.
